IAP Foundation now has a two phase application. Phase I is a short online application. Phase II is a full written proposal.
The following is a general outline of our current review process for Phase I & II. The Irwin Andrew Porter Foundation reserves the right to change any or all of this process at any time.
Phase I applications can be made through out the year and may be updated by the applicant at anytime up until the application deadline (see guidelines section for current deadlines). Those applicants advancing to Phase II must present a full written application within 30 days of being notified of their advancement to Phase II.
Following the application deadline, all Phase I grant applications are reviewed by two board members who bang their heads against the wall, throw darts and argue until the top 25 to 30+/- applications are chosen for continued review.
The top Phase I grant applications are then reviewed by all board members for ranking. Areas emphasized in this mysterious process are Connections, Collaboration, Give and Receive, Creativity, Bang for Your Buck and Credibility. Rankings from all board members are compiled and the top 18+/- applicant are then notified, via email, of their advancement to Phase II. They are then required to deliver a full proposal within 30 days.
Following the Phase II deadline received proposals are checked for completeness, divided in to groups and assigned to teams of board members for review and further investigation. Teams make final recommendations for grants awards at a full board meeting where opinions are discussed, questions are asked, voices are raised and final decisions are made.
Our best effort is made to notify all applicants of the results within three months after an application deadline.
